ABOUT THE PRODUCER There's no doubt that Hacienda La Esmeralda is known for its Geshas, however the Peterson family have been growing many incredible coffees of different varietals for decades.
El Velo is a newer addition to Hacienda La Esmeralda, joining their other farms in 2012. It sits at the same elevation as their world famous Jaramillo farm, from 1,600-1,900masl, and grows Pacamaras, SL-34s, and Laurinas on its 50 hectare footprint.
The Peterson family take care of their workers, to a degree that we think all farmers deserve. They provide housing, food, and childcare for harvesters during season, and an extra payout at the end of season, to sustain them until the off-season. Full time employees enjoy competitive wages, vacation hours, and scholarships for their children, along with financial incentives for those who stay long-term.
If their ethics aren't enough to entice you to support their work, their product will be. This Pacamara is astounding, it's beautifully aromatic, with notes of fig and caramel, and on the palate it expresses as honey drenched apricots, with a strawberry sharpness, and a yuzu acidity
